This three-day training will prepare you to give safe and effective massages for women in all stages of pregnancy. We will cover an in-depth overview of the physiology and anatomy of pregnancy through each trimester. Topics include common discomforts, applications and benefits of massage, as well as contraindications and pathologies during pregnancy. Julianna will include a 90min demo of a Prenatal Massage, consistent focus on side-lying with secure draping and specific stretches and massage techniques.Each student will receive an extensive, resource-based pregnancy massage manual that Julianna developed over years of experience and research. Students will have the opportunity to massage pregnant women on the last day of the workshop and receive a 21hour CEU certificate in prenatal massage.
Instructor: Julianna Santillanes, LMT #8823, NCBTMB, RMTI #I-0592, graduated from SFSOM in 2007 and has specialized in Prenatal & Postpartum Massage since then in both hospital and birth center settings. She has over 150 hours of continuing education in Bodywork for the Childbearing Year (preconception, pregnancy, labor & postpartum), and has also been trained as a Dona Postpartum Doula and as an Infant Massage Instructor. Julianna developed and implemented a complimentary prenatal massage program at an OB/GYN clinic at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska for eight years, and she now resides in Santa Fe and where she has a Pregnancy Massage Center for women to receive the highest quality of care and support.
