Integrative Zen Shiatsu

Theory and Practice
 with Lauri Genesio, LMT, RMTI

Shiatsu, traditionally a floor based practice, literally is translated as “finger pressure.” This form of Asian Bodywork uses fingers, thumbs, and palms, to apply a supporting and continuous pressure to the receiver, further enhancing a sense of well being and health. Practitioners will learn the meridians, movements of ki energy, and fundamental techniques used to tonify and sedate various imbalances presented by your clients. Such tools, used with acupressure points, Hara palpation, and the principles of Five Element Theory will assist you to better facilitate the body’s own innate healing abilities and process.

Instructor:
Lauri Genesio, LMT, RMTI #S-0353
After 18 years in the culinary arts and the natural food business, Lauri moved to pursue her long standing interest in Asian Bodywork and Nutritional Healing. By 2000, Lauri completed her studies at the Ohashi Institute in Chicago under the direction of Matt Sweigart, and then traveled to Italy to study with Luigi Garguilo, founder of Mi Zai Shiatsu . There, she realized a deeper understanding of Shizuto Masunaga’s creation of ” Zen Shiatsu ”, and his particular integration of the mindbodyspirit. In 2004, Lauri graduated from the Santa Fe School of Massage (Scherer Institute), and since, has taken on bridging the subtle and varied differences between the eastern and western perspective of bodywork within the healing arts. In her class , Moving Ki students are introduced to shiatsu, meridian stretches, and core movement techniques all within the context and focus of Five Element theory. Lauri has lived in Santa Fe since 1984, and maintains a private practice of shiatsu and massage.
