ETHICS: The Transgender Body on the Table

This class is an exploration of the myths and realities of working with transgender and intersex clients. Transgender and gender-nonconforming people report the highest rates of discrimination and barriers to healthcare, and they have the highest rates of suicide, substance abuse, and homelessness. Trans folk have some unique physical needs and emotional considerations at different points in their transition. The goal of this class is to create and expand the group of safe practitioners that trans people can access and receive the bodywork they need.

EllenSEllen Santistevan is a Licensed Massage Therapist who practices both craniosacral therapy and polarity therapy. In addition, Ellen is an occasionally award-winning painter and published poet. Her practice integrates elements of all these bodies of knowledge as well as the most current research on wellness.
